You may well have heard about the Afghanistan documentary that is currently causing a stir on the social networks.
MP Rory Stewart takes us on a journey through the conflicts of past and explains, in his personal view, how they might be impacting the current political landscape and opinions held today.
What was of particular interest to us was when Rory was discussing the infamous British Retreat from Kabul in 1842, where over 40,000 people lost their lives on their way from the Afghan capital to Jalalabad.
A few months back one of our Kabul based GIS guru's Matt Angell was asked to produce a map showing the route of the retreat and this map now currently resides on the wall of the British Ambassadors office in Kabul.
However, in the wake of this incredibly interesting new documentary (and with a bit of help from Al and Rhys), we thought we should make this available to all of you..
To view the map (using a nifty tool called Zoomify) click on the image below to go to the Retreat from Kabul Map Viewer.
